The Elements

Water Necklace #1

    The Elements

    Fire, Air, Earth, and Water

Which element do you identify with?

The fascination, passion and danger of fire? The freedom, far sight and dancing winds of the air? The deep connections and fruitfulness of the earth? Or the wild, mysterious, life-giving water from which we came? Do you change with the seasons, the movement of the sun, or the stages of your life?

At an early age, you recognized your profound connection to the natural world of living things, from the earth beneath your feet, to the salt water that pulses in your veins. You share your spirituality with the first person who stood in awe of a majestic mountain, glorious sunrise, or powerful storm. You are as grateful for a bowl of berries as seeing a flowering dogwood, or finding a scallop shell in a tidal pool.

    Hand-crafted

    Making Jewelry

    The Elements

This jewelry is not only beautiful, but each piece is unique and carefully crafted. I search the world for mythical creatures, hand-carved in bone, stone or wood, or cast in metal. Fire is represented by a dragon or phoenix. Pegasus for the air.  A mermaid or hippogryph for water. And an Earth goddess embracing bears, wolves, and bison. They are accompanied by silver-plated storytelling charms on dense strands of beads.

Many beads come from the earth or ocean: onyx, agate, jasper, sea sediment, volcanic rock, pearls, bones, seashells, wood, vintage coral, seeds, and semi-precious gems such as peridot or carnelian, and rough rubies, emeralds, or sapphires. To reflect the qualities of fire, air, earth, and water, I carefully select Czech crystal, and hand-made and vintage glass beads for their intense colors, textures, transparency, or sparkle. Metal beads are copper, brass, zinc, or plated with silver or gold. Findings are steel or gold-plated.

    Making Jewelry

Crafting  jewelry comes naturally to me. I trained as a designer, illustrator, painter and printmaker, and I love working with my hands. I'm genuinely excited by wearing and making wearable art, and I quickly lose myself at craft fairs and hardware stores, always picking up  techniques and being inspired.

    My jewelry lines include:

    Binary Byzantine

    The Martian Chronicles

    The Elements

Please return in April, 2025 to see the completed Elements jewelry.
